Our next party is fast approaching. The third instalment of our Buyers Club Summer Series brings Medlar and Fantastic Man to the Yard. Early bird tickets are now on sale. We advise getting one now to avoid queueing on the night.
Wolf Music’s Medlar will be headlining the night. The London Dj has gained a serious following with a string of great releases, infusing dusty disco and soul samples into to his stripped back take on the modern house sound.
Joining him is Melbourne’s Fantastic Man. The Superconscious Records head honcho completes the line up bringing his boogie-techno concoctions with him.
Our next Buyers Club party on 02.07 with Andras + Admin is fast approaching. Therefore we thought we’d introduce you to both DJs that will be gracing the decks on the night.
All early-bird tickets for the event are now sold out but advance tickets are still available.
Tickets will cost more on the door. So we advise buying in advance.
Andras joins us on the first date of his European tour and his first London date for 2 years. A graduate of the Red Bull Music Academy, he is a firm favourite of Boiler Room and was recently named as a ‘Breaking Through’ act by Resident Advisor.
Check out Andras’ Boiler Room mix here. Described by BR as full of “Loony house productions, hooky club jams and VHS instructionals — one of BR’s firm favourites”
We are also joined by Admin who has been receiving support from the likes of BBC 1Xtra & XLR8R as well as releasing on some of the finest underground dance labels including Banoffee Pies, Sleazy Beats and Futureboogie.
Listen to a recent mix he did full of luscious funk, soul and disco here.
So on the 3rd June 2016 we are getting Joakim down to The Yard in Hackney Wick, London. As a producer & DJ with a vivacious career, we are pretty excited about this. We first copped Joakim back in electro days…. but it’s his recent Dancing Is A Visible Action of Life mix series for Test Pressing, and his close hand skill at editing which has made us reconnect with the artist.
To explain a little bit about our choice of headliner, here’s a brief-but-dense look into his history in the Industry.
Joakim started releasing music around sixteen years ago. He formed Tigersushi in 2002 with a string of four ‘More G.D.M.’ releases featuring tracks from John Tejada, Maurice Fulton, Metro Area & Seven Grand Housing Authority AKA the legend Terrence Parker. This good taste has run a long way. Soon after he started releasing on Versatile Records, with release dates spanning 2003-2009.
Following on from that, he became prolifically busy, running not only Tigersushi but having a hand in the now famous Optimo Singles Club and pushing releases on a variety of sub labels like Pandamaki & Crowdspacer.
Then there is his work under alias’ as Cray76 and Jimi Bazzouka. Former name being the more techno leaning side of things, latter; great edits….
Good. So we hope you can come and party with us and Joakim, in London on Friday 3rd June. Now hear something from the same month in 2015, the incredibly catchy, made-for-summer edit of Black Bloods’ Muko Wapi.
Tickets for the party are available now at RA
We’re happy to announce Buyers Club – a series of late-running summer events at The Yard which will see us host DJs from across the globe including Andras [AU] // Medlar [UK] // Fantastic Man [AU] // Lexx [CH] + more TBA.
Buyers Club is a dance party for human beings – we provide access to new and uncovered international music.
Opening each first weekend running four months June – September, exceptional programming, sonic fidelity and visual stimulation will be offered as a narrative, for your consideration.
We will be joined by Joakim [FR] for our first event on 3rd June.

Here’s a new feature we’ll be running from time-to-time… it’s a succinct selection of photos from our recent party at The Yard, Hackney. To go along with that we’ve each picked out a track we shared that night, to share with those who couldn’t make it for whatever reason.
At this point we should say mass thanks to all the drinkers, the dancers & the late night romancers
Looking forward to getting stuck back into the Yard at some point in the coming months

We’re extremely excited to say we’ll be back at The Yard on 11th March and hope you will be too. The Yard is a special venue to us with one of the best atmospheres you could ask for from a club. We’ve been throwing parties there for a while now and each one gets better and better.
This one in particular is set to be special as Chris and Will are back from their travels, meaning the full BLBC crew will be out in force and packing some serious Colombian salsa and Trinidadian disco straight from the source. We can’t wait to give it an airing.
Tickets available on the door.
£5 all night.
Check the Event Page to keep up to date.
Address: Unit 2a Queen’s Yard, London, E9 5EN
Summer Tales have invited us down to do a Takeover next week, Thursday 3rd September, so we’ll be rocking the decks from 7pm onwards with the hottest Disco, Afro and House wax around.
We’re happy to offer BLBC friends and followers guest list entry all night long to skip the queue!
If you’ve been down already, you’ll know their events at Red Market Bar off Old Street, have had round the block queues all summer long.

Wow, what a party. We just wanted to say a massive thank-you to everyone who made it down to Up On The Roof, you really made it a special one!
We also wanted to say a massive thanks to everyone involved in the event, in particularly Winch – who served up an absolute feast on the BBQ, and Akin – who was snapping away throughout the day.
Again, sorry to those who were unsuccessful with tickets, we’ll be sure that you’re the first to know of our next party which we’ll be announcing details of soon.
Lots of people were asking after tunes on the night, so we thought we’d each pick a track that was getting a lot of love on the roof. So, in no particular order…
Mixed Grill – Brand New Wayo
This track is a bit of a secret weapon that never fails to stoke the party – it certainly did the job up on the roof. And with a name like that, how could you not play it at a BBQ? An irresistible mix of loose Nigerian grooves drenched in funk, the LP it originally features on – Cry For Peace And Love – goes for serious money. Thankfully the track was released as an edit on the fantastic Guynamukat label, a label whose quality is only surpassed by it’s value for money – where else can you get a 12” with four killer tracks for £4.99? The only issue with the tune is that it’s so hard to follow!
Eddie Johns – I Put A Spell On You
‘I Put A Spell On You’ is one of the most covered songs of all time with some great renditions coming from the likes of Nina Simone and Creedence Clearwater Revival. This version recorded by Eddie Johns in 1978 is a huge step away from the original blues version sung by Screamin Jay Hawkins in 1956. Safe to say we were all under Eddie Johns’ spell that night.
Bosq – Movin On’
Funkin little number from Bosq formerly of the Whiskey Barons. Groovy, saxy and hazy enough for a hot summers day. The breakdown makes this a real party tune!
Very excited about this one. Our first party of the summer!! And what better way to celebrate the sun finally making it out in force than kicking it all day long at our exclusive roof party.
We’ll be serving up a free BBQ in the early afternoon so you’re primed and dance ready for an extended BLBC vinyl only set from noon until sunset.
It’s an intimate affair with only 50 spaces on our free guestlist. This is under the radar so we won’t be giving out the address prior to the event and you’ll need to sign up below to qualify for the ticket draw.
People who help share & promote the event are more likely to get lucky with tickets.
If you’re successful we’ll get back to you ASAP.

Pleased to announce we’ll be taking over Friday Nights full time from late June in the newly remodelled Cafe 1001. We’ll be announcing launch night plans nearer the time but they are hard at work over there installing a new DJ booth, tweaking the system and putting a cocktail bar in the upstairs lounge… there was even talk of a little dance floor.
